ABSTRACT

This chapter offers all forms of training and personal professional development (PPD) are fundamentally learning. Peter and Helga, have shared many forms of PPD, including brief courses to expand the capabilities of various professionals; training in systemic psychotherapy up to accredited qualifying level; live supervision of clinical practice both in courses and of individuals and teams in health service practice; and workshops of many kinds in varied contexts as part of continuing professional development. When individuals are first introduced to a professional domain after completing their basic training and formal education, they often work as apprentices and are supervised by more-experienced professionals as they accomplish their work-related responsibilities. Personal therapy in psychodynamics is not just the avowed matter of self-understanding; it is also an experience designed to convert them towards the world view of the particular form of psychoanalytic theory on which their training is based.
