ABSTRACT

Introduction to Part Four The use of animals for food is a highly charged topic for many people. For some the emotional lives of animals are reason enough not to eat them. For those who do eat animals, accurate information on how animals for food are raised and slaughtered is important for an informed moral judgment. David DeGrazia describes the conditions of pigs, chickens, and cattle in modern factory farms, which now supply most of the meat and dairy products in the U.S., Great Britain, and most other industrial countries. He argues that factory farming causes more harm to animals than any other human practice.
