ABSTRACT

Various contributions to this book have discussed drivers of economic inequality and have proposed policies that may reduce inequality. The proposed measures cover numerous policy fields and represent everything from proposals for small-scale, limited change to calls for the fundamental restructuring of our societies. The chapters covering global imbalances and the causes of the current financial and economic crisis remind us that the fight against inequality is not only an end in itself, but also a means to reduce the instability inherent in the global economic system.
