ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book presented some of the realisation and leveraging of the benefits of new advances in construction Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and e-Business through discussion of theory, contextualising practical case studies, policies and regulation framing advancements and identifying some of the growing trends in the future. The issues discussed are not purely technological, but also include, social, process, and people issues that enable a coordinated and a cohesive approach to advance ICT and e-Business use in construction organisations. The book discusses case studies that address implementation issues. It is followed by that explores the use of AI agents in building design and management. It summarises the status quo with respect to ICT use in the construction industry providing a review of the trends and future directions for e-business in construction.
