ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the global definition of renewable energy (REN). In 2012, the Chinese market ultimately registered a drop in sales, which resulted in a global shrinkage of installation and lead to the disappearance of Chinese manufacturers from the top five turbine manufacturers in the world. In November 2013, King & Wood Mallesons, a global law firm with its headquarters in Asia, reported that the Chinese-owned Ralls Corporation in the USA was denied access to buying a wind farm located near a navy area in Oregon. During the 11th Five-Year Plan, the photovoltaic (PV) industry became one of few Chinese industries to compete globally and be expected to reach an advanced level internationally. The subject of urban solid waste burning is increasingly important in China's renewable energy panorama, both regarding concerns over environmental safety and the availability of raw materials.
