ABSTRACT

The Review of Personal and Professional Learning (RPPL) is a module on the doctoral programme. This chapter has been written in collaboration with one of book's editors - Christine Stevens - and five graduates of the programme: Marie, Maxine, Debbie, Carol, and Val. The chapter follows the format used in the programme handbook and describes the rationale, aims, goals, content and methods of the module, followed by some reflections on the challenges the module can present. It is the specific task of the RPPL module to help candidates become aware of what they already know, of their own agency both in the past and in the present and specifically in their doctoral work. The goal of the module is to lay the foundations for future work on the programme by reviewing and reflecting on prior professional experience as senior practitioners and the relevance of this to the intended doctoral project.
