ABSTRACT

This chapter seeks to reflect on some of the key learning's and outcomes of doctoral journey, particularly the areas transitioned from practitioner to researcher-practitioner in an academic and professional context. It has been an intriguing process to review the doctoral journey from the vantage point of years. The doctoral journey began with a consideration of the essence of professional activity, the theoretical underpinnings that informed it and the contexts in which it occurred. Designing a good research study is an intricate process, and it certainly took some time to realise that it was indeed a process. This process was held within the framework of a Learning Agreement (LA), which was a pragmatic learning strategy to negotiate an individualised learning plan as it pertained to my doctoral inquiry. In considering the key audiences for this research, it was also necessary to consider how to usefully disseminate the knowledge produced in order to continue the conversation of supervision research and development.
