ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book provides a detailed snapshot about the current state of the literature in the field of judicial behavior. It offers scholars various directions for new research and to spark additional conversations about important debates. The book highlights the dominant theoretical paradigms that exist: the Attitudinal Model, the Legal Model, and the Strategic Model. It focuses on the institution that inspired initial research on law and courts: the Supreme Court of the United States. The book examines all aspects of the Supreme Court, such as how justices are nominated to the bench, the importance of oral arguments, how they write legal opinions, the relationship between the Court and public opinion, the role and influence of the Solicitor General, and how the justices make policy through their decisions. It focuses on several international tribunals to examine the evolution of international law.
