ABSTRACT
Traditionally there has been little consistency in education and training for disaster management. Additionally, disaggregation of policy responsibility and leadership at government levels in many countries makes it increasingly difficult to identify and accept a standardised approach. There is considerable value in standardising core aspects of training and education while ensuring flexibility in delivery to enable adaptation to different contexts. This balance between standardisation and flexibility is the key to a resilient training and education framework.
