ABSTRACT

With 24 years of experience in law enforcement, I have seen many changes in the way that intimate partner sexual violence (IPSV) is handled in the American criminal justice system. In this chapter, I share insights based on my experience dealing with IPSV perpetrators, including case examples. I explain how law enforcement can have an effective role with perpetrators while on scene at an IPSV crime, during the interview and follow-up, and when the perpetrator is in jail, in prison, or on probation or parole.
