ABSTRACT

Through the ‘‘Community Profile’’ visioning program, the University of New Hampshire (UNH) Cooperative Extension has helped over a quarter of New Hampshire’s cities and towns to develop a vision for their future and mobilize local residents to act on that vision. The Community Profile is a process facilitated by UNH Cooperative Extension staff that enables community residents to take stock of current conditions, build a vision for their future, and develop an action plan for realizing that vision. Months of planning by community members go into implementing the two-day Community Profile forum, whose ultimate goal is to help communities find new and creative ways to pursue a common vision by leveraging and mobilizing assets and resources from both within and outside of the community.
