He studied philosophy at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Paris and the University of California. From 1969 to 2003 Feenberg was professor in philosophy of technology at the San Diego State University. At the moment he holds the Canada Research Chair in Philosophy of Technology at Simon Fraser University. He has also been a guest lecturer at more than ten universities in Europe, Japan and in the USA.
