ABSTRACT

The aim of RelEP is to analyse the beliefs of the members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and what they do as a consequence of these beliefs; the impact of religion on political socialisation within and between existing cleavages (national, party, denominational); the way religiously loaded issues are dealt with; how religion is (de)politicised in parliamentary activities and how it is used in various strategies to build coalitions or to gain visibility, to support or oppose European integration.
