ABSTRACT

Health care professionals in general are considered the cream of society in any country. Health care professionals are not immune to treating persons from lower social classes as inferiors, and therefore less worthy of their attention and direct communication. Most industrialized countries now have additional categories of health care professionals, such as physicians' assistants and nurse practitioners. In most Third World countries there are no schools of public health, and few health care professionals who trained abroad are trained specifically in public health. The proper choice of trainers for health care professionals in developing countries is an important aspect of a successful training program. In HIV/AIDS training, training presentations utilize a very specialized vocabulary. It is obvious that trainers must consider the language, of their participants. Regardless of the language in which the training takes place, the use of visual aids can be an extremely important adjunct to the training experience.
