Native American and Caribbean Traditions Native American tribes began to experience a revival of their cultures toward the end of the twentieth century. A number of American Indian authors have risen to national prominence, drawing attention to the serious problems confronting a largely invisible population. Such writers include Sherman Alexie, Louise Erdrich, and Joy Harjo.
