ABSTRACT
FAMILY STRUCTURE A variety of different kinship systems can be found in traditional African villages. For instance, the Ibo of Nigeria have a patrilineal system, in which all inheritance is passed through the father. When a woman marries, she leaves the family village and goes to live in her husband’s village. Thus, nearly everyone in an Ibo village is related through their fathers.
