ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the rights which have been established in China for more than 3,000 years, and China feeble civility has also lasted for thousands of years. People those who seized power in China were vigorous and strong when they founded their states; as soon as they were infected with Chinese propriety, however, defeat and destruction were followed. The consciousness of rights leads people to care about the difference between one's own rights and the rights of others. The goal of rights is, like those of religion, national politics, and so on, to complete a part of human nature, but rights, as humanity safeguard, seem to be more valuable than politics, agriculture and trade. If the goal of rights, the function of rights, and the substance of rights are illuminated, the definition of rights will be clear. Rights are that through which one can compete with and compel others, in order to complete human natures.
