ABSTRACT

The United Nations World Conference on Human Rights was held in June 1993 in Vienna. The World Conference on Human Rights is convened on the occasion of the forty-fifth anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). In the wake of World War II and victory over the brutal fascist forces, the United Nations worked out the Charter of the United Nations and the UDHR which give expression to the long desire of people across the world for the respect, protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms. The human rights issue has attracted universal attention in the international community as it bears on the basic rights and vital interests of the world's people. The concept of human rights is a product of historical development. It is closely associated with specific social, political, and economic conditions and the specific history, culture, and values of a particular country.
