ABSTRACT
Mongolia is a vast and landlocked country, entirely surrounded by Russia and China. It covers an area of over 600, 000 square miles and has 4, 450 miles of borders, 2, 500 of which are with China and 1, 850 with Russia. That is among the reasons why strong relations with Japan and the United States are seen as so crucial. Ultimately, however, there is no escaping Russia and China.
