ABSTRACT

This chapter describes, assesses, and critiques the governance of urban/regional planning in the Greater Vancouver Region of British Columbia, Canada. This region is an important component of the Canadian space-economy as it is the destination of choice for a significant percentage of migrants, immi grants, and economic investment. The study of urban policy formation and implementation provides insights into how, within this Canadian context, local-regional-provincial structures are coping with rapid demographic and economic change.
