ABSTRACT

I made two inauspicious entries into Seoul in 1950 and 1951. On both occasions, I jeeped or walked in with American troops as they slowly fought their way in to oust the enemy forces and recapture the capital city. Some twenty-seven years later, and again twenty-two years after that, I reentered Seoul, but comfortably by air and limo. On both of these occasions, I found that much had happened and much had changed in the intervening years.
