ABSTRACT

This chapter talks about the fictional author of a Tatar Prince memoir, Ismail ibn Ahmed, a composite character created from historical Tatar prince's evidence. It discusses the Ismail's relationship with his sons of an earlier Tatar prince, Melik-Tagir, who came over to the Muscovites. Ismail ibn Ahmed was born in the third year of the Khan Ilham reign. He could not bring him to attend people baptism to become Christians, which they did when they entered the service of the Muscovite ruler, but he did not act to prevent it. He go into some detail about the political developments because it is directly related to the most important decision of his life, to place him in exile from his homeland and begin helping the Christian grand prince of Moscow. His dream in coming over to the Christian ruler of Muscovy was both to escape the oppression of the Gireys and to work for the establishment of justice.
