ABSTRACT
The term air traffic refers to all air-craft in the air, about to fly, or justlanded. Air traffic control is performed by people on the ground whose job is to ensure air safety at all times. Safety is a matter of concern for all fliers, whether they are piloting private airplanes, military jets, or airliners. Pilots have the final responsibility for the safety of any aircraft, but they must also follow instructions given by controllers on the ground.
