ABSTRACT
Efforts to enhance social workers’ ethical competence have matured dramatically in recent years. From modest beginnings in the late nineteenth century, when social work was inaugurated formally as a profession, social work has developed a rich intellectual framework designed to identify compelling ethical issues and dilemmas in the profession, develop tools for ethical analysis and decision making, and educate social work students and practitioners.
