ABSTRACT

Key messages • Over the last 10 decades, West Africa has experienced warming of about 0.3°C in the Gulf

of Guinea and up to 1°C in the Sahel. Studies based on global circulation models (GCM) and regional climate models (RCM) project continuous and lesser warming (~ +3°C) along the Gulf of Guinea and orographic zones, and greater warming (~ +6°C) in the Sahel and the Sahara Desert by the end of this century.
