ABSTRACT

The Changing Dimensions of Security This paper was originally presented in a country, Italy, where the headlines of newspapers and the attention of citizens have been divided between three forms of insecurity: the individual and domestic insecurity brought into the open by terrorist bombings; the potential military insecurity connected with the war in another Mediterranean country, Cyprus, and by the changes of regime in several countries of Mediterranean Europe; and the economic insecurity brought about by the energy and balance of payments deficits and by worsening job prospects for individuals.
