ABSTRACT

Being a British citizen educated at both international and British schools, along with having lived in the United States followed by a significant period in Australia, I am unperturbed about spelling words with this distinction based on where and how I was initially exposed to them. Indeed, I have even noticed changes in my choices over the years. When a decade ago I tended towards Cambridge, I now see myself leaning more often to Oxford. There is no semantic difference between words that differ in this way, so I don’t feel I’m introducing any confusion if I happen to be inconsistent.
