ABSTRACT

According to the 2010 U.S. Census, the Asian American population grew faster than any other group between 2000 and 2010 and made up 5.6% of the total U.S. population (Hoeffel, Rastogi, & Shahid, 2010). As the Asian population continues to grow in the U.S., neuropsychologists are more likely to encounter patients from this ethnic group in practice. Research investigating the effects of culture on neuropsychological assessment, however, has been limited. Many Asian Americans are unaware of available resources for assessing cognitive functioning, given cultural and linguistic limitations, among other factors. Of the few Asian Americans who seek neuropsychological evaluation, many are not tested with measures designed for use with their ethnic group.
