ABSTRACT

Education is completely broken. While I am sure this is not a popular sentiment, it is nevertheless important to take what I say here seriously. Here are the main issues:

1. the subject matter is wrong 2. the teaching methods are wrong 3. the certification methods are broken 4. the types of schools we have are wrong 5. classrooms are a bad idea 6. professors are in control and there is no stopping them

What do I mean by this? Who needs to study literature, algebra, chemistry, history, economics, and any other subject that high school and college students must take? No one. Nearly every functioning adult in the world knows next to nothing about these subjects, but we force them down the throats of students for historical reasons that make no sense. These subjects are required for reasons long since forgotten, and no one can change it. After all, we have all those tests that students must pass. Why? No one remembers.
