Conclusion

This book has introduced practices of curriculum, guidance and assessment in Japan by looking back on their post-war history. Chapter 1 introduced four perspectives to analyse the status of academic ability, as well as the idea of lesson study (Jugyou Kenkyuu). Here, let us reflect on the main points of the other chapters one more time and consider what part of educational practice in Japan goes beyond lesson study.
