ABSTRACT
The Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC) are two major examples of the relatively few inter-regional institutions. Despite their different geographical scopes and memberships, the two forums perform a similar function: establishing links and institutionalizing cooperation between East Asia and a geographically distant region: ASEM with Europe; FEALAC with Latin America.
