ABSTRACT
Motor sports are one of the most global sports on the planet and this article focuses on three key areas of the fast paced international sport. First is the history and development of motor sports with an overview of the rules, key events and historic milestones, and the evolution of the sport through time. Next is a discussion of the international expansion of motor sports with notes on the key factors that contribute to the globalization of the sport, such as media and corporate sponsorship. Lastly, the article gives attention to the important personalities and tracks that have made the world of motor sports what it is today. Motor sports continue to evolve and grow across the globe and this article provides an overview on where the sport has come from and where it could go in the future.
