ABSTRACT

The ninth degree of autism is reached when we have achieved self-mastery, made a positive contribution to our environment, and gained a sense of unity with the larger world. It is important to acknowledge that this is very aligned with Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, and is not unique to those with autism. Those on the autism spectrum, however, usually must overcome significant barriers to achievement of this level, and deserve tremendous respect for the journey and this hard-earned attainment.
