ABSTRACT

Three sites of global flows are presented and discussed as they pertain to the Middle East: migration, money, and ideas. With every topic, the flows go in both directions-from and to the Middle East-and often they are overlapping. For instance, the movement of people results in the movement of money (remittances), while the flow of ideas might coincide with or cause migration flows. Because of significant wealth and income differentials within the Middle East, global flows hold different challenges and promises for different groups in the region.
