ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book discusses the existence of neutrality and non-alignment in the Cold War context proves the inherently complex nature of international society and international relations. It reviews the neutrals and the NAM did not form a tight bloc of nations, there was a hitherto under explored degree of cooperation and contacts between many states that had chosen not to join military alliances. The book explains the absence of policy coordination among and between the neutral and non-aligned states, their sheer existence represented a challenge of sorts to the Cold War international system. NAM might thus appear that the roles of neutrality and non-alignment were but marginal for the overall evolution of international relations during the Cold War. The book explores neutrality and neutralism gives an additional and much needed set of insights that helps to understand the inherently complex nature of international politics.
