This chapter describes the continuous redefinition of fundamentals in three stages of development: the earlier phase I of mass production; positioning my own built projects in phase II of industrial mass customization; while moving into phase III of distributed robotic production. It finds ourselves now living inside this challenging new phase in the global economy and acting in this transition phase to redefine our role as experts formerly known as architects. Kas Oosterhuis the similarities between the constituting building components, allowing for continuous variation in the dimensions and the details, further reducing the variety in applied materials. The fundamentals of architectural production have been redefined. Future prospects call for continuous variation in the materials as well, thus leading to the maximum freedom of architectural expression one can think of in this moment. The works of ONL build upon the fundamentals of the great period of industrial prefabrication in the post-war decades.
