ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on architecture and ecology relations and multiple species integration in architecture to help sustain ecosystems and biodiversity. This special case is OCEAN, a registered not-forprofit design research association that conducts inter- and transdisciplinary research in design across creative disciplines, with an explicit focus on the breadth of the human-dominated environment and architecture and urban design in particular. OCEAN Design Research Association and collectively develop experimental design approaches and methods and to combine individual portfolios into an extensive database of design experiments and outcomes, while at the same time not precluding the possibility of running individual practices alongside OCEAN. Numerous members are practitioners, either by way of running their own offices, as specialist members of larger practices or by way of emulating practice in educational environments. The association collaborates with other research organizations, practices and educational institutions. OCEAN Design Research Association: non-discrete and non-anthropocentric architectures.
