At this point, I should like to look at our own work as the architects of projects in which technical innovation has been set in a new relationship to the actual building assignments. Over the past 35 years, we have tried to steer a steady course in our approach to environmental energy that reflects its eminent significance. We have done this, however, with no ambition of creating a particular style that, in the present fundamental phase of building development, would simply be a burden in view of all the other needs that manifest themselves in the realm of design. In this respect, the appearance of a building has been an open question at all times, although the aim of communicating an aesthetic message is essential.
