ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses Woods Bagot (WB) is a global design and consulting firm, with a team of more than 1,000 people working across Australia, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America. WB aims to articulate the skeleton upon which urban environments can grow to guide the future of these environments. WB design simulation formed by the correlation of space, occupant behaviours and user-experience. As sector specifications become increasingly blurred, new user-centric typologies of space planning are emerging in practice, which we call experiential archetypes. The quality of these spaces and their interconnectedness generate economic, social and environmental value by defining the spatial patterns of our cities. SUPERSPACE is a recent addition to the R&D strands of WB. Its focus lies in human-centric spatial design systems. In the history of architectural theory there are, of course, a few instances when architects or theorists have been promoting user-centric design methodologies.
