ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on PLP that explores upcoming technologies, which will change the environment in which architecture is practised. It shows stretches from digital design tools 3D modelling, parametric modelling and rendering to the general impact of digital technology on society. The rendering group four members benefits from past research as well as spearheads new display techniques such as 3D displays and heads-up displays, both of which are available through games digital tools. In that context PLP collaboration with Bentley Systems sponsors an Eng D at UCL which is focused on machine learning as applied to fluid dynamics for tall buildings. The design was one of nine international finalists in the Future Projects Health category of the World Architecture Festival Awards 2011. PLP Architecture is working closely with Bentley Systems to develop the systems. From a technological perspective, the project involves combining two areas of software development, a parametric system and a GA.
