ABSTRACT
The Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF) was establishedin 1925 as an independent, nonprofit corporation to serve as an agent for University of Wisconsin faculty, staff, and student inventors. WARF receives patent disclosures, files for patents when appropriate, and seeks to license those patents for commercial applications. On March 14, 2005, President George W. Bush presented WARF the National Medal of Technology-the nation’s highest honor for technological innovation, recognizing 80 years (now, 90 years) of phenomenally successful service to the University, the State of Wisconsin, the Nation, and the world.
