ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 discusses two main types of crime analysis: strategic and tactical. Details are provided on each approach and what types of analyses are common with each type. Displacement and diffusion of benefits is covered while also touching on elements of how, where, and when crime occurs. The chapter also introduces the concept of hot spots of crime. This is followed by a breakdown of other types of crime analysis to provide a picture of what could be expected while on the job.
