ABSTRACT

Within the scope of urban planning strategies as well as global climate changes, urban climatic maps are an important tool for master or zoning plans. Moreover, in a changing climate, the analysis is used to mitigate heat stress and heat risk. Aside from analysing thermal comfort conditions, a clean air strategy can also be the result of this analysis. For Ho Chi Minh City, the Urban Climatic Map (UCMap) concept was used as an appropriate tool for presenting climatic phenomena and problems in 2D spatial maps. The UCMap analyses the urban climate of the city and makes recommendations towards the defined climatopes. The climatopes represent the heat load situation, which combines the thermal and dynamic effects.
