ABSTRACT

Meteorological data is an important input for the development of urban climatic analysis maps (UC-AnMaps), which are one of two main components in an urban climatic map (UCMap). Meteorological data, such as air temperature, atmospheric humidity, wind speed and wind direction, describe the local climate environment. There are different means and tools that one could use to obtain meteorological data, such as: ambient measurements of the atmosphere, satellite images, wind tunnels, and numerical models including meteorological models and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Among these, meteorological models are one of the tools that have been used to provide meteorological data for UCMap studies (Gross, 1993; Ashie et al., 1998; Hirano and Ashie, 2009; Ng et al., 2009; Richter and Röckle, 2009).
