ABSTRACT

At St. Peter’s Catholic High School (SPH),1 located half a mile east of downtown San Antonio, Texas, posters and flyers surround the front hallway providing information on various college fairs, SAT/ACT review courses, and even checklists that keep students organized in all aspects of the college application process. The academic dean’s office serves as a college and career readiness center where students can receive direct assistance and mentoring on the college process. It also serves as a space where students and families can meet with the academic dean and college representatives that frequently visit the school. These artifacts of the school’s organizational culture indicate that the SPH faculty and staff are highly engaged in working with students and their families to navigate the high school to college transition.
