ABSTRACT

The term -philia means that a positive feeling of liking, the experiencing of affective and emotional states, a feeling of affection for a person or an institution, or for an art expression. In the past few years, however, the so-called new cinephilia developed another kind of relationship with new media and web culture, thanks to strategies such as social networking, which somehow manage to give a different, more progressive meaning to cinephilia. At present, the new cinephilia continues to exist within the festival system, but it no longer seems to be interested in movie institutions or institutionalization. Film showing is increasingly moving to collective web channels and social media. The mantra for this community is still to share, and it is time to start mixing up the studies on new cinephilia with those on fandom and subcultural communities.
