ABSTRACT

The D-Day landings of 6 June 1944 were a decisive turning point in the Second World War. The Liberation of France and Europe began on the beaches of Normandy. It was in Normandy, 70 years ago, that the fate of the world today was determined. The history of the Basse-Normandie region is closely linked to reconciliation and the return of freedom and peace. Since then, our region has made a name for itself as a destination deeply connected to remembrance, where visitors from all countries and of successive generations come together to discover and share in the memory of those who fought for peace.
