ABSTRACT

Games are the dominant medium in which the audience shapes the text. If the future of media is interactive, then that future will likely co-evolve with the video game medium. We are at a pivot point-our goal should be to ensure that our future games transform society for the better, not the worse. Unfortunately, it isn’t clear that we can trust the market to provide us with the best games. State, federal, and local governments should become more involved-constructively involved-with the creation of video games.
