ABSTRACT

For far too long, animators have been invisible in their art. Acting has Cate Blanchett, Anthony Hopkins and Tom Hanks; dance has Misty Copeland and Robert Battle; opera has Placido Domingo and Kristine Opolais; fine art has Jeff Koons and Jasper Johns. But ask a fan of animated films to name a single animator and see what you get. In the past, animators were at least listed in a film’s end credits along with the character they worked on, but that is not the case any longer.
