Public safety has come a long way in the area of police problem solving. There are numerous documented examples of successful problem-solving projects across the United States found on the Internet and in a number of books and publications. These projects range from dealing with crimeinfested housing projects to panhandling on public streets. In fact, it seems that problem-solving approaches to almost every policing problem have been documented. Problem solving has proven to be highly effective in reducing targeted crime, reducing targeted calls for service, and resolving community concerns.
